Consumers avoid shopping in early November

In the 15 days of November retail sales movement paulistano fell, on average, 1.1% in comparison with the same period of 2017, according to the Sales balance of the São Paulo commercial Association (ACSP). "This drop stems from two factors: the atypical long holidays, emptying the city more than usual because they have been amended, and the uneven temperatures, which have affected the performance of sales of clothes and shoes spring-summer fashion," says President of the ACSP and the Federation of trade associations in the State of São Paulo (Facesp), Alencar Burti. The term systems and vista presented different performances in the first two weeks of November, in contrast to interannual timescales. Credit sales grew 2.1%, favored by smaller interest, while transactions in sight retreated 4.2%, depending on the weather. Burti stresses that the result should not be designed for the month of November as a whole, and may "indicate that the consumer have postponed purchases for Black Friday or for a longer period around Christmas." In comparison with the first half of the previous month, the Commerce of São Paulo presented average 7 percent downturn in the first half of November, with reductions in both the fixed-term system (-3.1%) and the vista (-10.8%). The President of the ACSP explains that this is a seasonal performance, whereas in the first 15 days of October trade featured commercial date (children's day). The Sales balance is made by the Instituto de Economia Gastão Vidigal of ACSP with sample provided by Boa Vista SCPC.
