Nestlé considers sale of the candy business in the United States

Nestlé announced that evaluates strategic options for your candy business in the United States, including a potential sale of the area. The restructuring covers only the American market. The expectation of the company is to conclude the assessment this year.
The U.S. candy business generated sales of about 900 million francs ($ $922,000,000) in 2016. The deal includes local brands of chocolates like Butterfinger, BabyRuth, 100Grand, SkinnyCow, Raisinets, Chunky, OhHenry! and SnoCaps, as well as bullet marks as SweeTarts, Nerds LaffyTaffy, FunDip, PixyStix, these Gobstoppers ... ..., BottleCaps, Spree and Runts. The business has the international brand of chocolate Crunch.
The review does not include Toll House brand products, which is considered strategic for the company in the American market. Nestle reported that still is committed to developing the market of candies worldwide, particularly the KitKat brand.
Global sales of Nestle candy totaled 8.8 billion Swiss francs ($ $9.01 billion) in 2016. With sales of 26.7 billion Swiss francs in 2016, the United States is the largest market for Nestle in the world. The candy business represents around a third of the company''s sales in the United States.
The company employs more than 51000 people in about 120 units in the United States, including 77 factories and ten research centers.
