87% of Brazilians consume peanuts in the Jerk

The gangs, fires and typical foods of Jerk are approaching and the peanut based products have guaranteed consumption. That''s what a recent survey confirms the Connects, commissioned by Abicab (Brazilian Association of the Industry of Chocolates, cocoa, peanuts, hard candies and derivatives). For 87% of the brazilian population, the Jerk and Julinas are the main events in the legumes is consumed, followed by Cosmas and Damian (21%) and sporting events such as football (17%).
The study also indicates that where there is the practice of Jerk and Julinas is strong peanut consumption (66%), mostly in the northeast (77%). In addition, it is customary for 62% of respondents from all regions of the Country, attending such festivities out of home in fairs, schools, clubs or parties of condominium/Street, especially in the Midwest (78%) and North (71%).
"You can see that the consumption of peanuts in the Jerk is high not only in the Northeast, a region where these festivities are more traditional, but also in other regions of Brazil," says Vice President of peanut, André Guedes. "This is considered the main period for the sector, as sales of important industries warms," she adds.
Daily when asked about the preference of daily consumption of peanuts, the research identified that the peanut butter cups is the most consumed peanut type (69%) by those surveyed, followed by peanut type Japanese (59%) and peanut without skin (55%).
