CADE approves L''oreal purchase of trademarks of Valeant

The Administrative Council for economic Defense (Cade) approved without restrictions the acquisition by L''oreal USA, of assets related to skin care, Acne don''t brands Free and Ambi-currently held by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International. The decision was published on Thursday in the "Official Gazette" (GIVE).
L '' Oréal s.a. operates only in the United States. The L '' Oréal Group, of French origin, acts on research, development, production, marketing, distribution and sale of cosmetic products in a global scale.
In Brazil, the L '' Oréal Group does business in several segments of cosmetics. The portfolio comprises products for the general public, professionals, luxury items and dermacosmetics.
Valeant is the parent company of the Group of the same name, based in Canada, which develops, produces and sells brand-name drugs, generic and similar, free trading products (over-the-counter) and medical devices, which are marketed directly or indirectly in more than 100 countries.
Valeant''s portfolio includes the following brands: CeraVe cream; Acnefree and Ambi, that offer skin care products. Among the brands acquired, only some of the products are sold in Brazil Don''t.
