Suzano can remove 100,000 tonnes pulp capacity in 2018

São PAULO Suzano mapped 100,000 tons of pulp production capacity that could be withdrawn by the company on the market next year, said the President of pulp and paper producer, Walter Schalka, said Friday.
According to the Executive, the ability was mapped between every plant of Suzano and involves production with higher costs. This week, the rival Company announced that in 2018 it will withdraw from the market 200,000 tons of production capacity.
During a teleconference with analysts about third quarter results presented on the eve, Suzano's executives said that the company plans to invest 1.8 billion reais in 2018, same amount planned for 2017. The volume to be invested, 1.2 billion reais will be used in maintenance activities.
Suzano is seeing the stage for positive paper prices and space "for new price moves" at the beginning of 2019 and regarding celulose the scenario follows low stocks in China and demand, which can make room for new tariff adjustments still in 2017 , said the company's executives.
