Mondelez withdraws offer to buy Hershey

The Mondelez International, manufacturer of candy and snacks, withdrew on Monday (8/29) the offer of $ 23 billion that was made by rival Hershey about two months ago. The acquisition-which had already been rejected by the Lady of Hershey Chocolate Kisses-would create the world''s largest candy maker.
In a statement, the Mondelez, which makes the cookies stuffed Oreo and Cadbury chocolates, said there was no way for an understanding. Shares of Hershey fell 11% in the "after hours" (negotiations after the closure of the traditional trading floor), after news of the end of the negotiations.
Both companies have operations in Brazil. The Mondelez also owns brands such as Amey, Bubbaloo, Bis, Halls, Trident, black diamond and Dream Waltz. In addition to the candy Kisses, Hershey sells in the country, among others, the chocolate Reese''s.
