Coca-Cola and Femsa closes deal to buy Unilever''s AdeS

Anglo-Dutch Unilever announced this Wednesday (1) closed deal to sell the business to soy beverages AdeS in Latin America for the Coca-Cola Company and the Mexican bottler Femsa at a total value of $ 575 million.
The brand is currently sold in Brazil AdeS, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile and Colombia.
Founded in 1988 in Argentina, AdeS is a leader in the segment of soy-based beverages in Latin America. The brand is present in Brazil, in Mexico, in Argentina, in Uruguay, in Paraguay, in Bolivia, in Chile and in Colombia. In 2015, the AdeS sold 56.2 million units of its products and recorded net revenue of $ 284 million.
"This sale is a step in the alignment of our portfolio in Latin America to deliver sustainable growth, and align overall our portfolio of products and categories," said Miguel Kozuszok, spokesman for Unilever''s Latin America.
Unilever reported that will continue to manufacture the products for 3 years in Brazil AdeS, 2 in Argentina and 1 in Mexico, "starting immediately once we receive all the regulatory approvals and that the agreement is finished".
Under the agreement, Unilever will continue to distribute the AdeS brand drinks until six months after the deal is closed.
In Brazil, the production of AdeS came to be suspended in 2013 in some production lines after a recall in a batch of Apple Juice risk of burn by presence of caustic soda.
The drink is sold in Brazil since 1997 and currently has a line of 30 flavors.

Coca-Coca reported also that are buying in Brazil to dairy Field Green, of Minas Gerais, in its strategy of diversifying and strengthening the portfolio of non-carbonated drinks. Yet there is no deadline for the completion of the deal. With factory in Lavras, Minas Gerais, the Green Field owns the lactose Lacfree line.
In addition to soft drinks, are part of the portfolio of Coca-Cola brands: vitaminwater, POWERADE, Minute Maid, Simply, Georgia, Dasani, FUZE TEA and Del Valle.
