Tetra Pak launches packaging produced with 100% renewable raw materials

Tetra Pak announces the launch of the first packaging solutions produced entirely with renewable raw materials. The new Tetra Rex uses layers in low density polyethylene and high density polyethylene covers, both from sugar cane, and of paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC ®).
According to Charles Brand, Vice President of Marketing and product management of Tetra Pak environmental excellence is one of the strategic pillars of the company and a guideline for the development of new products. "Working with suppliers, customers and partners we are leading the industry in search of packaging 100% renewable. In addition, we believe that the use of renewable raw materials in our packaging is not only positive for the environment, but also represents a competitive advantage for our customers when it comes to the environmental profile of their products, "says Charles.
Developed in partnership with Braskem, a world leader in the production of biopolymers, the new Tetra Rex packaging will be available for sale at the beginning of 2015. Tetra Pak's customers who already use the one-liter Tetra Rex packaging, with the lid TwistCap OSO 34, can easily replace by new version, without any additional investment or modifications in existing filling machines.
