Brazilian retail sales rise 1.1% in August, says IBGE

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters)-Brazilian retail sales rose 1.1 percent in August over July, but retreated 1.1 percent compared with a year earlier, according to the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE) said Wednesday.
Reuters research pointed out that the expectation was that sales rose 0.75 percent in August on a monthly basis according to the median of 28 settlements of projections fall of 0.30 percent high of 2.30 percent.
In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the expectation was of indentation of 1.10 percent on the median of 23 forecasts, which ranged from loss of 2.20 percent to 1.0 percent advance.
