Embratel launches business plans for IoT and M2M markets

Embratel announces the launch of CAT-M corporate connectivity plans specially dedicated to Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine to Machine (M2M) applications. From a unique network, the technology provides companies in many industries with access to the best coverage for connecting and managing devices.
At launch, Embratel offers national coverage in four plans, of 2MB, 5MB, 10MB and 20MB, with a maximum transmission rate of 1Mbps and an average of 375Kbps. When contracting connectivity, the customer also has access to a complete device management service through the Command Center platform.
Touted as one of the largest revolutions in the IoT and M2M market to potentially replace 2G and 3G networks in the coming years, the CAT-M connectivity standard is developed over the 4G LTE network and allows for further signal-per-antenna expansion, optimizing the use of connected machines according to bandwidth, latency and power savings needs.
The technology is especially interesting for segments such as agribusiness, smart cities, telemedicine, tracking and telemetry, industry and distribution of energy, oil and gas, because it provides more speed in connectivity, with lower latency. The use of CAT-M is indicated, for example, to connect energy measurement sensors and building security, for infrastructure operations, in industrial automation control, in payment methods, in retail outlets, and in the lighting and telematics segments.
CAT-M-connected devices travel data optimally, up to 15dBm (decibel milliwatt), enabling wide signal range from the LTE network with transmission rates of 1 Mbps, even if the device is up to 100 km away from an antenna. This range is a great differential mainly for operations in more remote and distant places in large urban centers.
CAT-M also provides battery preservation of devices, as power consumption is greatly reduced. Because the technology does not require a high throughput rate and has greater flexibility with respect to latency, the life of equipment with its own power is extended. The CAT-M network also provides companies with support for the confidentiality of the user's identity and integrity of the data trafficked, in addition to the authentication and identification of the devices.
By hiring a CAT-M Embratel plan, the customer has provided a management service through the Command Center platform, for greater autonomy and automation in the control of vehicles, industrial machinery and electrical grid equipment, for example. Real-time monitoring makes enterprise Internet of Things and M2M operation much more efficient and automated.
Available in Portuguese, English and Spanish, the platform has more than 45 features and allows you to track important information such as available coverage and remote diagnostics of devices. Through the platform, it is possible to block and unlock chips in a unitary or massive way in case of emergencies, analyze the status of APNs (Access Point Name) and monitor the contracted connectivity plan, as well as the consumption of data and the sending of SMS, in an automated way, of each line.
The platform also provides the history of sessions and location of the machines, in addition to the real-time position of the equipment.
