E-commerce doubles sales

In June, e-commerce recorded a 110.52% growth in sales, compared to the same period last year. The sector's revenues increased by 108.84%. The data are from the MCC-ENET index, developed by the Metrics Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Electronic Commerce (camara-e.net) in partnership with the Buy & Trust Movement.
Between April and June, the number of consumers who made at least one online purchase was 18.2%, an increase of 5.9 percentage points over the previous quarter (12.3%). In May, the retail e-commerce participation rate reached 12.6%. Compared to the previous month, June had a 13.11% drop in sales and a 6.91% decrease in revenues.
In May, office, computer and communication equipment and supplies accounted for 39.3% of the total. Following, are: furniture and household appliances (23.6%); fabrics, clothing and footwear (13.4%); personal and household items (10.2%); pharmaceutical, medical, orthopedic, perfumery and cosmetics items (8.5%); hypermarkets, supermarkets, food products, beverages and tobacco (3%); and books, newspapers, magazines and stationery (2%).
According to Compre & Confie, all real sales of much of the Brazilian e-commerce market are collected. Information from the national economic indicators of IBGE, IPEA and FGV is also used.
