Abimapi adds up to 85.9 Million

The categories contemplated by the Brazilian Association of Biscuit, Pasta and Industrialized Bread & Bread & Bread industries (Abimapi) recorded a 20% growth in exports in the first half of 2020, to USD 85.9 million in revenues. By volume, there was an increase of 73% to 71,000 tons of products sold abroad, compared to the same period last year.
The food pasta category was the one that stood out the most, with an advance of 243% in value (USD 12 million) and 395% in volume (14,000 tons). Industrialized breads and cakes increased 85% in revenues (USD 29 million) and 204% in volume (31,000 tons). The biscuits totaled USD 43 million in revenues and 26,000 tons of exported products.
According to Abimapi, in the semester, a new category of products in the sector - bread of form - as well as a new large market in exports - was observed in China.
Industries have also seen growing demand for foreign suppliers to serve their own brands, mainly from retail groups.
The Expectation of the Association is to exceed US$ 100 million in exports, with an average annual growth of 6% in the period.
