7.74% rise in the first half

The 26 networks affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Pharmacy and DrugStore Networks (Abrafarma) moved R$ 27.45 billion in the first half of 2020, an increase of 7.74% over the same period last year.
However, growth is lower than the +9.78% recorded between January and June 2019.
In the period, general sales of medicines totaled R$ 18.87 billion, an increase of 9.08%, and the categories that pulled the result were prescription-free drugs (MIPs) and generic drugs. Non-drugs generated a revenue of R$ 8.58 billion (+4.91%).
In all, about 1.32 billion units were sold in more than 8,000 stores in 827 municipalities.
