4% Non-Quarter High

In the state of Rio de Janeiro, the franchise market recorded a 4% increase in revenues in the first quarter of 2020, compared to r$ 4.1 billion. In 2019, the sector grew 14% compared to the previous year. The data are from the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF). According to the entity, the impacts of the pandemic hit the sector in the second half of March, with a drop of more than 25% in the revenues of half of the franchises. In the quarter, Rio de Janeiro grew 8% in the number of networks, to 862 brands in operation, and 8% in units, to 11,811 points of sale. The segment that advanced the most in the state was Services and Other Businesses (39.6% in units).
