Cost optimization is one of the biggest challenges for food processors. With that in mind, Sealed Air, through its Cryovac brand, brings the Darfresh® on Tray, the first vacuum skin packaging system that offers zero film residues and operates at speeds comparable to standard ATP (protective atmosphere) systems. Developed in partnership with G. Mondini S.p.A., this unique sealing technology is applied in preformed trays to increase productivity compared to conventional skin systems. The system is 35% faster than conventional skin packaging technologies with preformed trays. Faster processing leads to a reduction in operating costs as it will consume less water and energy to pack the meat. The savings can reach 35%, reflecting a reduction in the time required to perform the work. Darfresh® on Tray applications can be made into cold/frozen case ready proteins (fresh meat, poultry, fish). With the Darfresh® on Tray system, meat can have its shelf life extended by up to 28 days. The new system delivers better productivity results to processors, as well as expanding marketing opportunities and reducing losses for retailers.
