Ypê will donate 21 tons of soap to residents of Paraisópolis

Detergent manufacturer Ypê will donate 21 tons of bar soap to residents of the Paraisópolis favela in São Paulo. The volume, equivalent to 100,000 bars of the product, is sufficient to serve all families in the community for two months. The population of Paraisópolis is about 100,000 people. The plan is to do the same in other communities in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In the German community, 25 tons of the product will be delivered, equivalent to more than 125,000 units. According to the company, bar soap is effective in preventing the new coronavirus and can be used both for hand washing and for cleaning surfaces. Ypê is also producing gel alcohol in its amparo fabria, in the interior of São Paulo. The product, which is not part of its portfolio, will be delivered to employees and health entities in the region. The volume of production, the company says, will depend on the availability of inputs. Several companies are mobilizing to produce and donate cleaning products to hospitals and communities. Ambev, for example, announced the production and donation of 500,000 units of gel alcohol. Diageo, owner of Ypióca, will donate 100,000 bottles of 70% alcohol to Ceará. The list also includes Marfrig and Pernod Ricard.
