Sector Expected To Grow 5.3% This Year

Expanded retail is expected to grow 5.3% in sales this year, according to projections from the National Confederation of Trade in Goods Services and Tourism (CNC). In restricted retail, which excludes automotive branches and building materials, the indicator is up 3.5%. According to the entity, the estimates were based on data from the Monthly Trade Survey (PMC) of December, released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). According to the survey, Brazilian retail trade closed 2019 with a 1.8% growth in sales volume.
