Amazon Opens 100% Automated Supermarket

Amazon opened last Tuesday (25) its first supermarket without cash registers and attendants. The nearly 1,000-square-foot store, called Amazon Go Grocery, was installed in Seattle, United States. According to the retailer, the space is five times larger than Amazon Go stores - of which there are about 25 in the U.S. With areas from 110 m² to 210 m², Amazon Go units function as convenience stores with fresh food, drinks, fruits, sweets and bakery items. Amazon Go Grocery has sections of household items, oral hygiene, personal care and animal feed. As in smaller stores, Amazon Go Grocery customers will register through an app. Sensors and cameras record the products customers pick up and automatically charge after leaving the store.
