Walmart stores in SP are called BIG

Walmart stores in São Paulo, in the metropolitan area of the city and in Campinas, Limeira, Araras and Mogi Guaçu have already been called BIG. The units were the first to undergo change, announced in August. The restructuring takes place about one year after the purchase of 80% of the group by the Private Equity fund Advent and provides R $1.2 billion in investments for reforms and modernization of stores in the country. Only in the state of São Paulo will be spent approximately R $200 million in the renovation of 92 units until the end of 2020. The company says it decided to change the name of the network after research, to give preference to "regional brands that rescue the emotional bond with consumers". In the south, Southeast and Midwest, the stores will be called BIG. In the Northeast, Walmart hypermarkets will be renamed BIG Bomprice – a widely known brand in the region. "BIG is a strong brand in the south of the country and well evaluated in the southeast, as well as bomprice, widely recognized in the Northeast, and have important elements of affection that we want to redeem," says Jorge Herzog, executive director of Hypermarket Group Big (formerly Walmart Group). In addition to new name and appearance, the stores will have 30% more variety of products and new services, according to the network. The group has approximately 50000 employees and operates about 550 stores in 18 states and the Federal district. There are 7 flags between hypermarkets (Big and Big Bomprice), supermarkets (Bomprice and national), wholesale (Maxxi wholesale), Shopping club (Sam's Club) and neighborhood Stores (TodoDia), in addition to petrol stations and pharmacies.
