Illy must repeat performance of 2017

The Illycafè hopes to keep this year the same level of sales of 2017, when the company expanded in 14% and 18% in volume in the country, says CEO Massimiliano Pogdybac.
"The plan is to repeat the result from last year or something close to that, which is good. Unless we have a socio-political issue, I don't see why we can't get to that growth. "
According to the Director General of the Illycafè in South America, Giuliana Solari, although 2017 growth has been less than the 2016 – when the company's sales in the country grew by 25%, by volume – the result is within the expected. "In 2016, we grew up too much."
She explains that both the performance scheduled for this year as the result obtained in 2017 are reflections of the agreement signed with the Sugar Loaf network for sale of the brand and the launch of e-commerce last year.
This year, the company intends to expand your presence in the market for the States of Minas Gerais, Goiás and Ceará, which should also boost business, Giuliana.
Today, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are the main markets in which the company maintains its own structure. "We want to expand our retail presence in those States and reinforce the work where we've been," he says.
Brazilian crop
The company's purchasing Director, Alessandro Bucci, didn't want to make projections about the brazilian harvest of grain, estimated at a record volume of 60.5 million sacks, according to the Seasons and Market consulting, but pointed out that the brazilian blossoming was "wonderful". "If there are problems in may or June, we think will be of better quality." The Brazil provides more than 50% of the coffee used in the blend of the company. "The situation is positive not only for this crop, but to the next," says.
