Bill will have no extra charge in December

BRASILIA-the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has announced that the tariff flag for December will be green. This means that there will be no extra charge for consumers in this final month of the year. The last month in which the green flag had been applied was April. According to the Agency, although shells of the main dams in the country still present low levels, there is expectation that the rainy season will continue to alleviate the adverse conditions of storage, reducing the pressure on the cost of power generation. "Even with the green flag it is important to keep the actions related to the conscious use and combating waste of electricity", said Aneel. The system of tariff flags signals the "real cost" of energy generated. They are set on a monthly basis from the colors green, yellow or red (in 1 and 2 levels), indicating whether the energy will cost more or less depending on the conditions of generation. In November, consumers played the yellow flag, which has additional R $1 every 100 kWh consumed. Between June and October, driest period, ran the red flag in the second level, the more costly, in which there is an additional charge of R $5 every 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
