Sale of medicines to pets is already 20% of veterinary sector

The sale of veterinary medicinal products for the pet (dogs and cats) is growing in Brazil and already accounts for 20% of the revenue of the veterinary pharmaceutical market, with R $597.1 million from January to July this year, according to data from the Association of Laboratories National Pharmaceutical (Alanac). The estimate, according to the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE), is that there are in Brazil 52 million dogs and about 22 million cats. Approximately half of the turnover with veterinary medicinal products refers to sales for ruminants in case of bovine animals.
