Nestle buys Blue Bottle, high quality coffee

LONDON/LOS ANGELES (Reuters)-Nestle bought a majority share of the North American Blue Bottle Coffee, marking a first step of the leader of coffee packed in hipster world of specialized bars that serve high-quality coffee, single source and rendered the cold.
The company producer of Nescafe and Nespresso capsules announced the purchase of a participation of 68% of Blue Bottle on Thursday, without disclosing the financial terms. The price was around 425 million dollars, according to a source familiar with the matter.
As the purchase last week of vegetarian food company Sweet Earth, the agreement seeks to bring the largest manufacturer of packaged foods in the world the kind of demanding consumers are moving away from their mass market brands such as Nescafe coffee.
