SAO PAULO (Reuters)-the Melitta Group, one of the main coffee market of Brazil, announced on Thursday the construction of a fourth unit in Brazil, with initial investment of more than 8 million reais in the South of Minas Gerais, the country's main coffee producing State.
It is expected to generate close to 200 million dollars revenue over the next four years from the unit to be installed in Varginha, informed the German company, in Brazil the second largest market, behind Germany.
The company's strategy is to expand business of ground roasted coffee in Minas Gerais, the company said.
The new plant should come into operation in the second half of 2018, according to the company.
The contribution of the multinational in the market of Minas Gerais was started in April this year, with the acquisition of the brand Coffee Baron.
"It was the first step to strengthen our brands and accelerate our growth in Minas Gerais and in Brazil", commented the President of Melitta for South America, Marcelo Del Nero Barbieri, in a note.
"We identified a strong growth potential for the Melitta brand, for our entire product line and specifically for mining Baron brand," he added.
