BRF starts subsidiary operations focused in the Muslim market

São Paulo – the food multinational BRF reported on Wednesday that began this week OneFoods''s operations, the company''s subsidiary dedicated to the halal market, until then known as Halal, as Sound quest to strengthen its presence in Muslim markets.
"With the creation of a local company that will consolidate our efforts in Muslim markets, have advanced even more in the production chain and approaching local consumers," said the Chief Executive of BRF, Pedro Would, in a note.
At the end of June 2016, the Board of Directors of the BRF had approved the establishment of Sadia Halal, unifying the production processes that follow the precepts of Islam.
What happens now, with the start of operations of OneFoods, is the formalization of this restructuring.
In November last year, the BRF disclosed that it hired investment banks to advise potential investments by third parties on its subsidiary halal. On Wednesday, the company made no reference to the subject.
According to the BRF, OneFoods is born as the largest halal company of animal protein in the world and will act in an estimated market of 1.8 billion people.
Based in Dubai, the OneFoods has over 15000 employees and fully integrated with supply chain of products by ten, eight factories located in Brazil, one in the United Arab Emirates and one in Malaysia.
According to the BRF, the subsidiary has a market share of approximately 45% in chicken products in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.
The OneFoods command will follow in the hands of Patricio Rohner, regional director of the BRF in the Middle East and North Africa.
According to the Executive, the OneFoods already operates in more than 40 countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Asia and its purpose includes accelerating the process of bringing the consumers in all markets in which it operates.
