Lack of beans in gondolas advances 36%

Sao Paulo-the problems in the production and harvesting of the carioca, more quality beans sold in Brazil, caused the lack of products in supermarkets added 16.17% in June, an increase of 36% in comparison with April.
The result, pointed out in a survey by consultancy NeoGrid, signals that the price of the beans also advanced 58% in recent months, which made the product even more difficult to access. "Retailers are having trouble finding the product and renew stocks due to the problem of the crops, which were hampered by the weather," explains Director retail NeoGrid, Robson Munhoz, noting that, in comparison with June last year, the growing lack of product is 43%.
In addition to the difficulty in buying the product, since the offer this year retreated with adverse temperature on the plantations, there is also a movement of retailers to rethink the purchases. "Thus, in the face of economic instability and high prices, retail is more cautious when purchasing the product for fear that there is consumption-and he ends up missing from the shelves," he explains.
Overall average
The rupture of the bean was 65% higher than the General break in June. The total index of faults, which considers all categories of products, fell for the third consecutive month this year, 9.77%. The fall has nothing to do with the reduction in the volume of sales in supermarkets and hypermarkets, which in may 2016, decreasing 3.4% in the last 12 months, according to the IBGE. "With the crisis, the population spends to buy less and, with that, it is natural that some products end up getting on the shelf, which reduces the rate of rupture," Munhoz.
For the Director, it is important to highlight another point in relation to fall: "to worry about consumer behavior in the face of economic instability, retail and industry begin to stabilize their negotiations to avoid shortages of products, and so do not lose sales, and excess inventories, which keeps the capital stopped", he adds.
As for the sectoral breakdown, the food sector showed the highest June, 10.46%, while health and beauty registered 8.86%, cleaning, 7.39% and drinks, 9.37%.
The consolidated data by the company gathers information approved more than 10000 Brazil retail stores and that measures, on a daily basis, the availability of the items.
