Electronics industry production back up 3.5% in June

Industrial production of the electronics sector shrank by 3.5% in June, compared with the same month of 2015. The retraction was lower than the fall of 5.9% of the overall industry, according to Abinee (Brazilian Association of electrical and Electronics Industry), based on information from the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics).
Despite the fall compared to the previous year, this sector grew 1.3 percent compared to may, also above the 1.1 percent advance the industry as a whole. In the first half, the electronics sector fell 19.3%, worse than the performance of the general industry ( -9.1%) and manufacturing industry ( -8.3%).
According to the President of Abinee, Humberto Barbato, despite improved performance month by month in 2016, the recovery of the sector can take. "We hope that next semester we have better performance, which will cause the sector to close the year with a drop less expressive than presented in the first six months," he says.
The Abinee predicts 7% reduction in industrial production of 2016.
