Consumer confidence rises

The ICC (index of consumer confidence) advanced 2.6 points in August compared with July, going from 76.7 to 79.3 points, the highest level since January 2015, when noted 81.2 points. This was the fourth consecutive high index, from the historical minimum, 64.4 points, recorded last April. In comparison with August 2015, there was high of 9.6 points.
"About 90% of the high consumer confidence over the past four months was determined by the improvement in expectations. In August, however, the biggest contribution came from the increase in satisfaction with the present situation, a sign favorably, whereas there was an improvement in the perception of consumers both in relation to the labour market with regard to the financial situation of families. The result gives greater consistency to the recovery trend of the ICC, "he said, in a statement, Viviane Silk Banerjee, Coordinator of the consumer Survey published by FGV (Getulio Vargas Foundation).
There was increased confidence in all four income classes searched. The most significant improvement occurred among consumers with household incomes between R$ 2,100.01 and R$, in which the ICC 4,800.00 increased 5.2 points in August and 14.3 points in the quarter. To consumers of lower purchasing power (family income less than 2,100 R$), confidence has risen 3 points in August and accumulated 50% less than the above range, 7.1 points in the quarter.
