Brazilian startup transforms empty packagings in benefits for the citizen

As an empty packaging and unused can turn into an opportunity for the consumer? It was with this idea and thinking of cycling to the world that the startup Tricycle released his first project: the Returns Machine, designed to offer benefits to citizens by means of reverse logistics and encourage the voluntary participation of the population in separate collection.
In less than a year, the 17 machines spread over São Paulo has collected more than 300,000 packages, totaling about 4 tons of pet bottles and about 2 tons of aluminum. With that, more than 6000 real R$ reverted in bonuses in energy bills and recharge in the Valley Transportation.
The Returns Machine is a solid waste Manager and works as a loyalty program. To participate it is necessary that the person concerned has or do your registration in one of the machines of the tricycle, the site Returns Machine or by the app. The machine recognizes the material by means of a bar code reader and computes Tricycle points in the profile of citizen. With the loyalty program the person then may opt for the redemption of points on a single ticket, discounts on electricity bill or, if you want to donate the points to two partner institutions of tricycle: the Fishnet Project and NGO Casa do Zezinho.
"Our goal is to offer creative solutions to sustainable development and to insert entities and the community within this context", explains Felipe Lagrotta Nassar Cury, co-founder of Tricycle. "What we seek is to encourage citizens to transform empty containers, which can be a problem for the environment, for the benefit for themselves and for society as a whole", concludes Cury.
