Fundecitrus reduces estimate for Orange crop 2016/2017

The Orange harvest 2016/2017 citrícola belt of São Paulo and triangle/Southwest reestimada Mineiro in 244,200,000 of 40.8 kilos. The forecast was disclosed yesterday by the Defense Fund of Citrus (Fundecitrus). The value represents a decrease of 1.9% in relation to the published estimate in September, 249,040,000 of boxes and 0.6% compared to the initial estimate published in May which was 245,740,000 boxes. The revision to a smaller crop due to the suitability of the correction factor (which calculates the variances of the crop) which has been updated. "Previously, the factor used took into account the average of the last ten years, but needed to be revised to fit the current reality of the orchards", highlights the background. In this estimate, the growth trend of the fruits continued to be observed. The variety Pear River, is reviewed in 230 fruits/fruit/box box against 245 in the last forecast. According to Fundecitrus, the accumulated rainfall from May to November, which was 19% above the planned in the period pulled the growth.
