Sale of corrugated board falls 6.34% in August, reveals ABPO

Sales of corrugated cardboard (boxes, accessories and plates) fell 6.34 percent in August 2015, compared the same period last year, to 277.816 thousand tons. In comparison with the month earlier the indentation was exactly of 0.76%. The data are and were disclosed yesterday by the Brazilian Association of corrugated board (ABPO). So far, in the third quarter, sales accumulate 5.45% low, totaling 557,757 tons in July and August this year against the same two months in 2014. In January to August this year, the accumulated fall is 3.02% over the previous year, with 2.185 million tons. Thermometer August performance was the worst registered this year, followed by the month of February, when the falls reached 4.57 percent, and July, with decrease of 4.54% sales of corrugated board. The input is one of the thermometers on the pace of economic activity in the country. Throughout the year of 2015, only the months of March and June recorded expansion in sales versus a year earlier, with high of 0.62 percent and 1.28 percent, respectively. /Agencies
