TRADE ACTIVITY GROWS IN SEPTEMBER

After having retreated 0.4% in August, the consumer movement in stores across the country advanced 0.9% in September, already discounted seasonal factors according to Serasa Experian Indicator of Trade Activity. In comparison with September 2013, the increase was 5.2%. The high this year was concentrated into two segments: 0.9% in textiles, clothing, footwear and accessories; and 0.8% expansion in furniture stores, electronics and computer equipment. According to Serasa Experian's economists, credit stimulus measures announced by the Government in late August and the period seasonally more benign in terms of inflation are among the factors that boosted the movement of consumers in stores in September this year.
