Grow sales in the sector, shows index of Apas

São Paulo-real sales to supermarkets in the State of São Paulo in Brazil from January to August increased by 4.49% in same stores concept, compared with the same period in 2013, according to the São Paulo supermarket Association (Apas).
The indicator above relates to stores open more than a year ago. Already in the concept all stores, including stores opened during the year, there was increase of 5.03% from January to August compared to the same months of 2013. Considering only the result of August, the high was 2.46% compared to the same month in 2013.
Still in the projection of Apas, if inflation doesn't show signs of slowing, with most evident reflections on price reductions, supermarket industry sales this year to date should grow approximately 2% for 2013. Like this
If there is reduction of inflation and resumption of household consumption, the industry would tend to register growth around 4% compared to 2013, according to the entity.
The sales term
Another indicator of the retail trade presented yesterday was the credit protection service (SPC Brazil) and the Confederação Nacional de Dirigentes Lojistas (CNDL), which points in the month of September fall of 0.10% in the consultations on trade-term sales, compared with the same month in 2013.
In August, the index rose 0.43 percent. In the first nine months of the consolidated year, splitted sales had dropped 0.91% in comparison with the same period in 2013. The greater rigour in the process of granting credit by retailers would result in weakness of the economic scenario.
