PARIS, Oct 2 (Reuters)-sales of passenger cars of the luxury car manufacturer BMW should grow between 3 and 4 percent this year, said the sales Vice President Ian Robertson told Reuters on Thursday.
Robertson said that European growth will be uneven in this year and it will take more than three years until the markets recover to pre-crisis levels.
While growth is slowing in China, the expansion will still be higher than in other countries, Robertson said in an interview at the Paris Auto Salon, adding that BMW now will manufacture the 2 Series in China.
Robertson said the automaker will increase production of hybrid sports i8, which is manufactured on the same production line electrical i3.
"The i8 has been completely sold. Let's make some more because the i8 requests is too long ", he said, adding that BMW will produce more than 880 i8.
